The Texas Tech Alumni Association and Texas Tech Federal Credit Union will co-host the sixth annual Pre-Lighting Festival at 5 p.m. Dec. 2 prior to the Carol of Lights. The event will be held at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion, located southwest of the Jones AT&T Stadium. All Texas Tech Alumni, students, and members of the community are welcome to attend.
In the spirit of giving, the Alumni Association would like to invite the attendants to donate Christmas gifts to those who cannot afford to put toys under the tree this season. The Marine Corps Reserve will be at the festival ready to load their trucks with presents for their annual Christmas charity, Toys for Tots. All toys donated are distributed to local families who are unable to give Christmas gifts to their children. Those who bring a gift for the organization will receive a coupon for a free drink at the pavilion. Donate
All attendees who are present will have a chance to win various door prizes, which include donations from generous local businesses. An assortment of food and drinks will also be offered at the festival, including cookies, popcorn and hot chocolate. Santa Claus will make a guest appearance to take pictures and hear Christmas wishes while Raider Red will be present for photo opportunities and fun for children.
A Texas Tech student will be presented with a $1,000 scholarship award donated by the Student Alumni Association Board of Directors. Raffle tickets for the prize may be purchased for $1 at the event or at the Merket Alumni Center, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students may also purchase raffle tickets from any member of the Student Alumni Board. The student must be present during the drawing to win the reward. The money will be put toward tuition for the Spring 2010 semester.
