Applications are currently being accepted for Texas Tech University's Shake Hands with Your Future summer residential program, sponsored by the Institute for the Development and Enrichment of Advanced Learners (IDEAL). The dates for summer 2012 are as follows: June 3-7 for students entering grades 4-7 and July 8-12 for students entering grades 8-11.
Shake Hands with Your Future is an academic enrichment camp that will introduce students to new academic experiences and to assist students in focusing on an academic path. The program also seeks to provide a supportive environment where students share experiences and encourage each other's thinking and creativity.
University faculty, graduate students and public school teachers serve as instructors and guide students through investigations of complex subject matter and research processes. Participants choose to participate in two courses of study. Classes offered include: Art, Architecture, Animal Science, In the Lab, Environmental Engineering, LEGO Robotics, Theatre, Anatomy and Physiology, Forensics and Law.
