"The Learned Ladies," a play by Molière, translation by Jonathan Marks
Texas Tech University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “The Learned Ladies” by Molière, translated by Jonathan Marks. The play runs April 26 through 28 at 8:00 pm and April 29 at 2:00 pm at the Maedgen MainstageTheatre on 18th Street between Boston and Flint.
Director Jonathan Marks gives us a 21stcentury look at 17th century comedy, in his own translation of Molière’s “The Learned Ladies.” Pretentiousness, pomposity, pedantry and deception abound in a pseudo-academic setting where, the ladies, with their exaggerated intellectual airs attract some interesting frauds.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for students with a valid ID. Some free tickets for Texas Tech students are available. For more information call the Maedgen Theatre box office at (806) 742-3603.
