The Student Counseling Center is offering a Mindful Eating therapy group for TTU students enrolled during Summer I and/or Summer II 2012. Although you only need to be enrolled for one summer session to be eligible, you must commit to attending the group for the entire summer. Mindful Eating is a skills-training group which will enable students to give up binge eating, compulsive overeating, and purging as coping strategies by teaching group members how to tolerate and cope with challenging emotions. In addition, members will develop mindfulness skills to help them identify binge triggers, reduce self-criticism, and replace unhealthy eating behaviors with better ways to cope. The group will meet onTuesdays from 1:00 to 2:30 beginning in early June. To schedule the required pre-group interview, please contact Amanda Wheeler, M.A. or Lisa Viator, Ph.D. at 742-3674.
