Service Week at Texas Tech University will be October 15-20, 2012! This week is being planned by the Tech Activities Board, Residence Hall Association, and Student Union & Activities.
Monday, October 15: Come by the SUB Courtyard between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. to make a t-shirt scarf that will be given out at Lubbock's Tent City. Some shirts will be provided or you can bring your own shirt to cut into scarves. Then join us for a cookout with the residents of Tent City at 6:00 p.m. that night!
Tuesday, October 16: Meet the CUTE club at the Double T bench outside of the Administration Building from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. to start a campus-wide cleanup effort! Tuesday night in the residence hall community meetings, R.H.A. members will help students make and decorate their own recycle bins for their rooms.
Wednesday, October 17: Carpool with your friends and join us from 3 p.m. – 6
p.m. to help the American Red Cross South Plains Regional Chapter (2201 19th
Street Lubbock, Texas 79401) with several service projects such as painting,
cleaning, and organizing. When you're done, decorate pumpkins for the
Pumpkin Trail.
We will also be making cards for the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” campaign from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Leadership Development Center at Carpenter and Wells.
Thursday, October 18: Join us in the SUB courtyard from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. to make bird’s nest charms that we will donate to the South Plain’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers’ fundraiser auction. Then come out to the Haven Animal Shelter from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. to help the animals and several projects around the shelter.
Friday, October 19: Make a card to brighten an elderly person's day from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the S.U.B. Courtyard, and then join us for BINGO with the residents of Carillon House from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.!
Saturday, October 20: Meet the crew from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at One-9 Skate Park (205 E 19th St, Lubbock, Texas 79403) and help us make an indoor soccer field and other tasks! Free breakfast donuts and pizza will be provided.
