Original scripts are needed for the Department of Theatre and Dance’s annual “Raider Red’s One-Act Play Spectacular,” an intensive script development process that will lead to a full production featuring an evening of plays written, directed, performed, and designed by students. The final production will take place in the Laboratory Theatre March 31 through April 6, 2014. Submission deadline is September 23, 2013 at 5:00pm. NOTE: Only the first 25 scripts will be accepted regardless of the deadline, so submit early.
Any current Texas Tech University student (at the time of submission) is eligible. Scripts must not have been previously produced and must be the original work of the playwright. Scripts should be written to be produced on the stage. Children’s plays and musicals will not be accepted. Only one play submission per student will be accepted.
Script length must not exceed 15 pages (not including title page and character/setting description page) and must be typed in standard play script format (bound together with pages numbered, on one-sided paper). Scripts with playing times between 5 and 15 minutes are highly desired. The selection process is “blind,” therefore, the title page MUST NOT contain the name of the playwright, the playwright’s contact information, or anything else that identifies the playwright; all such information should be put into the entry form, which is filed separately.
Entry forms are available on the callboard in the Department of Theatre and Dance, Maedgen Theatre Building, on 18th Street between Flint and Boston.
