School of Art Presents Annual Art History Symposium

Three art history seniors and one MA candidate will present papers on their current research.  They include presentations by the following seniors:

Alexandra Brown, “The Representation of Crows in Gustave Doré’s London”

Catherine Burke, “Trees and Rebirth at Palenque”

Amanda McCatherine, “An Interpretation of the Significance of Cave Imagery in Association with Rulership Iconography and Scenes of Accession at Late Preclassic Maya Sites”

Master’s of Art History candidate Jessica Davis will present a paper based on her thesis title: “Violence on Canvas: A Representation of Inner-Turmoil, or, An Analysis of Otto Dix and his Lustmord Series.” 

The presentations will be judged by Dorothy Chansky, Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre & Dance, who will award prizes to the top presentations.
