As part of our efforts to ensure the long term viability of benefits for our members, ERS is working with Aon Hewitt to conduct a dependent eligibility audit for the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP). The audit will lower instances of fraud by ensuring that only eligible dependents receive health coverage. Aon Hewitt is the third party ERS is working with to conduct the dependent eligibility audit.
Previously, Aon Hewitt conducted a dependent eligibility audit for ERS in 2011. For the audit, Aon Hewitt will: send letters and email to participants, answer questions about the audit, provide a secure audit website, and receive and review documents.
The new audit has two parts. The first begins this month and will include dependents who are currently enrolled in health coverage and were added since the previous audit. The second will be for new dependents as they are added to health coverage. The ongoing audit is scheduled to begin in July 2014. Participants will not be required to recertify dependents who were identified as eligible in a previous audit.
Participants who will be part of the audit that begins this month should receive letters from Aon Hewitt beginning April 24th.
