Define American? Student Organizations Discuss Immigration

The Texas Tech Young Conservatives of Texas, Tech Student Democrats, the Tech Young Republicans, and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) will meet on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. to discuss immigration.

The event will be held the day after the screening of the film Documented by Jose Antonio Vargas, the 2013 Texas Tech Open Teaching Concept Social Media Diversity Symposium speaker.  Mr. Vargas returns to Texas Tech to debut his film Documented at Texas Tech on Tuesday, April 15th at 8:30 p.m. at the TTU School of Law Lanier Auditorium.  Documented is a part of TAB Diversity Week.

On Wednesday, the four student organizations, joined by Mr. Vargas, will discuss the film and discuss and debate immigration reform.   The discussion will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Texas Tech Southwest Collections Formby Room.   Breakfast will be provided.

About Define American:

Our request is simple: Let's talk.

Whatever your background or beliefs, our campaign is about asking how we define what it means to be American, and elevating the conversation about how we engage as citizens.

To start, the conversation is about immigration.

Our immigration system is broken — and fixing it requires a conversation that's bigger and more effective than the one that we've become accustomed to.

We hope you'll join us in asking new and better questions.
