Lubbock Lake Landmark to host Archaeology in Action

Visit the Lubbock Lake National Historic Landmark on Saturday, July 12, to experience Archaeology in Action: Family Day. Join a tour to get a behind the scenes look at an active archaeological site and research laboratory. Interact with researchers and archaeologists to learn how environmental and cultural clues fit into the picture of the culture and time period currently under investigation. 

Watch flintknapping and ancient traditional cooking method demonstrations.  Participate in spear throwing, animal track art and more. 

TOUR TIMES: 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m.

 Tours begin at the Bob Nash Interpretive Center, continues to the excavation site and into the research laboratory appropriate footwear is a must! (comfortable closed-toe shoes)


Admission is FREE!  


As one of the few known sites in North America to contain evidence of continuous human occupation spanning 11,500 years, the Lubbock Lake National Historic Landmark is a renowned archaeological and history preserve. 

The Lubbock Lake National Historic Landmark, a unit of the Museum of Texas Tech University, is located at 2401 Landmark Drive on Lubbock’s northwest edge and is accessible via marked Loop 289 exits or by following signs at U.S. 84 (Clovis Road) through Landmark Lane to Landmark Drive. Call 742-1116 for more information.
