Let TTU get you a Congressional Internship

Come learn more about TTU's Government & Public Service Internship Program at our information session on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6 pm in West Hall Presentation Room 101. Past congressional interns will be there to answer questions and give insight into this once in a lifetime experience.

TTU's Government & Public Service Internship program provides a rare and prestigious opportunity for a select group of Texas Tech students to live and work in Washington DC or Austin for the spring 2015 semester. Opportunities are also available in Washington DC in summer 2015. Regardless of your major or background, this internship yields vast opportunities to network and interact with people who can provide great insight and advice on your future academic or career goals.

More than 270 Tech students have traveled to Washington DC and Austin as a part of this program. Many have used their internship experience as a springboard into careers in the capitol cities. Others have chosen to continue their education by entering into graduate or law school, or have started careers in other fields with a greater knowledge of the workings of our federal government. In this program, you will acquire skills and experiences that will serve you well no matter what your career choice.

Each student selected for the congressional internship in Washington DC or Austin will receive $4,000 or more in TTU scholarships. You will also earn course credit for the internship. For undergraduates, it is also possible to pursue a political science minor through the internship. All majors are encouraged to apply, as well as undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

For more information and to download a spring or summer 2015 application please visit: www.congressionalintern.ttu.edu. The application deadline for spring 2015 is Monday, Oct 6 by 5 pm. The application deadline for summer applications is Tuesday, Dec 2 by 5 pm. The application may be delivered to Administration Building, Room 170.

Can't come on Sept 18 for the information session? There will be another information session on Tuesday, Sept 22 at 6:30 pm in West Hall, Presentation Room 101. These events will be a great opportunity for you to gain information about the program, meet former congressional interns, and ask any questions you may have before the October 6 (spring) and December 2 (summer) application deadlines. Anyone interested in the program is encouraged to attend one or both events.

Can’t go to DC or Austin for an entire semester? Apply to work in a congressional office in Lubbock while still taking classes in spring or summer 2015.
