Healthy African Americans and non-Hispanic Whites invited for a research study

Healthy adults (18-30 years of age) who identify themselves as African American or non-Hispanic White are invited to participate in a research study that will examine the effects of handgrip exercise on pain sensitivity and blood pressure. Volunteers will be asked to visit us in the Exercise Psychology Laboratory in Exercise and Sport Sciences Building at Texas Tech University twice. Each lab visit will take approximately 45-60 minutes and involve 1) exercise consisting of squeezing a handgrip and 2) pain sensitivity assessment using brief electrical stimulation. No invasive technique is involved. Financial compensation ($15.00) is available. If you would like to receive more information, contact Masataka Umeda, Ph.D. in the Exercise Psychology Laboratory at Texas Tech University at (806) 834-3475 or exercise.psychology@ttu.edu.
