SIGMA DELTA PI AND CROSS-CULTURAL CENTER CELEBRATE SPANISH DAY AND EL GRITO

SPANISH DAY 
Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, will celebrate Spanish Day with a forum from 5:00 to 6:30 pm in 001 Education on September 15. The theme of the forum is ¨Widening Perspectives: Spanish in Contemporary Societies” with a focus on the Spanish language. The invited panelists will include Dr. Franco Parisi, visiting international scholar and former presidential candidate of Chile, and Drs. Idoia Elola, Diego Pascual y Cabo, and Marta Tecedor Cabrero from the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures. The forum will be followed by a reception which will feature dishes from across the Spanish-speaking world. For more information about this event, please contact the President, Spencer L. EL GRITO
The Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center will celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spain at the SUB-North Plaza at 9:45 pm on the same day. The center is joining cities across the nation to celebrate the event to honor the culture and traditions of Mexican-American and Hispanic populations. The event will feature many presentations. Individuals are encouraged to wear verde, blanco y rojo, and when the clock strikes 11 pm, everyone will shout with excitement “¡Viva México!” For more information on this event, e-mail the Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement office at crosscultural@ttu.edu or call 742-8681.
