DEADLINE for Graduate Arts and Humanities Research Conference

DEADLINE EXTENDED -- CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Texas Tech University Graduate School is pleased to announce the fourth annual Arts and Humanities Graduate Research Conference October 17-18, 2014. The conference features paper presentations by TTU graduate students, highlighting research and work in the arts and humanities.

The conference is an opportunity for graduate students to share their work with an educated, non-specialist audience making full use of available presentation technologies. Students who present will also submit a 10-12 page scholarly paper based on the presentation (deadline November 9). Papers are peer-reviewed for a “best-of-conference” award. Students may also opt to have their papers included in the annual TTU Arts and Humanities Graduate Research Conference Proceedings. All papers are eligible for the award whether the student will be submitting them for publication or not.

Graduate students doing scholarship in the Arts and Humanities are invited to submit 250-300 word abstracts for papers showcasing their current work. 36 papers will be chosen for presentation. Fields where research can engage the fields of Arts and Humanities include (but are not limited to):

Art
English
Economics
Geography
Communication Studies
Mass Communications
Foreign Language
Linguistics
Philosophy
Music
Theatre
History
Political Science

Complementary work in the fields of Human Sciences, Design, Architecture, Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Psychology, or work from other fields that is cross-disciplinary with Liberal Arts is also welcome. Research that is more quantitative in nature may be better suited for submission to the Graduate School’s annual Poster Competition in the Spring.

Abstracts may be submitted online up until September 19th at:

LIMIT ONE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION PER STUDENT (only the first submission from a student will be accepted).
