CAMPUS CRIME ALERT NOTIFICATION

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Texas Tech Police Department is giving notice of two incidents of indecent exposure.

TTPD CASE # 14-1623

On October 10, 2014 at approximately 5:16 PM Texas Tech Police responded to a dispatched call at the Texas Tech University Library.

A female student reported she was sitting in a closed study carrel on the 2nd floor stack level of the library around 4:45 PM when a male knocked on the door.  The student reported looking out the window of the closed door and observing a male standing outside who was intentionally exposing his genitals.  The student called a friend who responded to the location with library staff.  The male had already left the area.  Library staff then contacted police.  Police searched the library but found no persons matching the suspect description.

TTPD CASE # 14-1668

On October 15, 2014 at approximately 5:06 PM Texas Tech Police responded to a dispatched call at the Texas Tech University Library.

A female student reported she was sitting in a study carrel on the 1st floor stack level of the library around 4:30 PM when she observed a male standing in between two isles of books while intentionally exposing his genitals.  The student was alarmed and offended by the male's behavior and quickly fled the area.  Upon receiving the report, police searched the library but found no persons matching the suspect's description.

SUSPECT INFORMATION

The suspect is described by both students as a dark skinned black male, approximately 6'0" tall, average build, with short hair.  In both incidents the suspect was described as wearing a red t-shirt and dark pants.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Persons who may have witnessed activity related to these incidents or who believe they can identify the suspect are encouraged to contact the Texas Tech Police Department.

The Texas Tech Police Department cannot currently confirm there is a continuing threat to the campus community. However, as two similar reports have been received, campus residents are encouraged to remain vigilant of their surroundings and to immediately report suspicious activity by utilizing emergency blue phones, calling 9-911 from campus land lines, 911 from cell phones, or for non-emergencies by calling 806-742-3931 or 806-743-2000.
