Vampire Bats "The Secret Lives of Real Vampires"
Join us for a FREE kid-friendly public lecture at 6pm (20-30 minutes) presented by Gerry Carter, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Maryland, in the Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium. The presentation will be targeted toward children to teach them about real vampire bats and how they are different from mythical vampires like Dracula and the “scary” bats of Halloween legend. His lecture will include many aspects of their fascinating social behaviors, the unique way they feed, etc - but will target children to make it fun, interesting, and educational. The lecture will include photographs and videos of vampire bats.

After the lecture, stay for a pizza and cookie reception and fun activities including an origami bat demonstrations. Foam flying bats will also be available for families during the reception.

The Museum of Texas Tech University’s current exhibit “Vampire Bats: The Good, the Bad, and the Amazing!” will be open for the kids and parents to tour after the lecture.
