Lubbock’s 15th annual Día de los Muertos Procession will start at TTU’s International Cultural Center

Artwork on el Día de los Muertos theme by Future Akins, Richard Allen Ashmore, Ed Check, Jeanne Henderson, Guy Giersch, Valerie Komkov-Hill, Mark Lively, Ginny Mahan, Kathleen Mahoney, Chet Morrison, Beverly Osterberg, Jan Pate, Cindy Peanick, Shannon Samson, Annalee Schubert, and Ellen Stanley. Music by Mariachi Amistad.

6:30-7:30 p.m. TTU School of Art 742-1947

Landmark Arts presents Interpretaciónes Graphicas II, typographic and conceptual explorations created by junior students in communications design. The Students interpret themes familiar to the Day of the Dead celebration The final works in the exhibition were selected by Austin-based graphic artist Carlos Hernandez, who served as guest juror. Chicanitas: Small Paintings from the Cheech Marin Collection continues in the Landmark Gallery.

7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) Avenue J & Mac Davis 762-8606

LHUCA presents artwork, dance, music and food celebrating Día de los Muertos in the Christine DeVitt Icehouse. Featured will be artwork from local LISD students and a performance by el Ballet Folkorico Nuestra Herencia.

8:30 - 9:30 p.m. Buddy Holly Center 1801 Crickets Avenue 775-3560

In the Fine Arts Gallery, Celebración, an exhibition of works in response to the history and meaning of Day of the Dead by artists throughout the United States, is on exhibition (continues through November 30). A Children's Make & Take (marigolds) is offered from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Mariachi Alegria will perform from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Enjoy Tejano music from Grupo Kruel in the Meadows Courtyard from 8:00-9:00 p.m.

Enjoy the traditional holiday refreshments and the folklore and cultural traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from The CH Foundation.
