IE 4380/5380 Information Systems Engineering
The ability to design, manage, and query different forms of data is a necessary skill for many engineers and scientists. 

IE 4380/5380 Information Systems Engineering has been designed to address relevant topics in data management and information systems technology that are appropriate for engineers and scientists that do not have a computer science background. The course begins by covering data modeling concepts as well as the fundamentals of relational database design and access using SQL (Structured Query Language). The relationship between databases and the Internet will be addressed. Additional topics include the concepts and tools associated with data mining and data warehousing as well as the social and ethical issues associated with handling data.
