Faculty: Designate your Service Learning Course

Service learning is a pedagogy that links academic study and civic engagement through thoughtfully organized service that meets the needs of the community. This service is structured by and integrated into the academic curriculum, which provides opportunities for students to learn and develop through critical reflection. Texas Tech faculty from diverse academic disciplines report service learning enhances their teaching and student’s interest in course material, and connects both faculty and students to the community.

Our vision is for Texas Tech University to become a national leader in service learning, providing a rigorous and reflective academic experience for students, excellent resources and recognition for faculty, and meaningful service to the community.

Are you already incorporating service learning in your course, but haven’t applied for “S” course designations? Or would you like to begin a service learning course? The deadline to apply for an “S” designation for the summer or fall semesters is March 9th. To learn more about the application process or to apply, please visit: http://www.depts.ttu.edu/calue/SLFaculty.php
