PROCUREMENT CARD RESTRICTIONS
Effective immediately, the procurement card may
not be used for charging high speed data access
for home or for internet service.

This directive is from TTU’s Chief Information
Officer, Information Technology:

The University should not pay for the incidental
use of the home high speed data connections for
employees except in some very extreme cases
where the nature of University work done from
home requires a high speed data connection.

Even if a case can be made for the high speed
access need, we must also be cognizant of the
fact that the employee and family members may
use the same access for personal use.
Therefore, a pro-rated method of reimbursement
should be considered.  Cost of high speed access
from home could vary from $360 - $720 per year.
Also keep in mind that the university does
provide a 56KB dial-up PPP account for
approximately $48 per year that should
accommodate the needs of most employees who may
have to access their work from home.

These requests must have an approval from the
appropriate Dean or VP and the Information
Technology office.
