Ethical Considerations in SoTL Research; An IRB Perspective
While many methodological approaches to SoTL research exist, they often are centered in the classroom environment of the researcher. Inherently, this presents some unique challenges to the ethical guidelines of researching human subjects. This workshop will review key ethical principles of human subject research from the perspective of the IRB reviewer. Specifically, those elements often challenged with SoTL projects will be discussed, along with some creative approaches to design that have been effective in meeting the ethical obligations of researchers.
