Bridging Gaps: Global Examples of Community Health Worker Programs

The TTUHSC Office of Global Health (OGH) invites you to attend an ongoing lecture series on issues related to global health and building healthy communities. The lectures will be held twice a month at 12:00 noon CT. Invited guest speakers will share their personal stories and experiences. Everyone is invited to attend. Free lunch will be provided to the first 50 attendees.

This presentation will briefly define community health workers and describe their role in reducing health disparities and improving population health status, followed by highlighting global examples of CHW programs. Julie St. John is the Associate Chair of the TTUHSC Abilene Department of Public Health. She founded the National Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Center at Texas A&M School of Public Health. Julie is a Texas certified CHW Instructor, serves on the state CHW Advisory Committee, is an APHA CHW Section council member, and has worked with CHWs over 14 years utilizing CBPR and community health development approaches. She is currently the Co-PI on the C3 project—a national CHW project focusing on CHW scope of practice and assessment approaches.

This event is free & open to the public. Free lunch will be provided to the first 50 attendees. No RSVP is necessary
