A Look Into Costa Rican Healthcare featuring Julia Voelkl, MD/MPH Candidate, TTUHSC Class of 2018
During this presentation, Julia Voelkl will discuss the structure of Costa Rica’s healthcare system, with an emphasis on the public healthcare available to all Costa Ricans. In addition, she will discuss the Costa Rican medical education system, why it has led to a dramatic shortage of specialists, and how that affects patient outcomes.
Julia Voelkl is a dual degree student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) studying medicine and public health, with plans to become an obstetrician / gynecologist. She wanted to take advantage of the flexible schedule of her fourth year of medical school to experience healthcare in a developing country while simultaneously improving her Spanish.
This event is free & open to the public. Free lunch will be provided to the first 50 attendees. No RSVP is necessary.
