Graduate seminar in Close Relationships this fall
Close Relationships (PSY 5001-013; Mondays noon-3 pm) is a 3-hour graduate seminar that will be taught in the Department of Psychological Sciences by Dr. Molly Ireland in Fall 2018. The class will cover social dynamics in a variety of intimate relationships (romantic and platonic), focusing on foundational aspects of relationships that can be applied to other areas of social psychology and the behavioral sciences, including liking, attraction, love, sexuality, power, trust, jealousy, and betrayal. Readings will be taken from diverse areas in and outside of psychology, including social, personality, cognitive, clinical, and counseling psychology; health and interpersonal communication; computer science and engineering; and computational linguistics. Class assignments will be weekly discussion questions (over three journal articles), two reflection papers, and a final presentation. Note that this class fulfills the Social core requirement for Experimental Psychology graduate students in the Department of Psychological Sciences.
