TEXAS TECH TEACHING ACADEMY HOSTS THE JOHN M. BURNS CONFERENCE
The Texas Tech University Teaching Academy invites you to attend the annual Teaching Academy John M. Burns Conference on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. The Conference will take place on Monday, October 1, in Room 151 of the Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development Center (TLPDC).
The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Peter Felten, Professor of History, Assistant Provost for Teaching and Learning, and Executive Director of the Center for Engaged Learning at Elon University. He has served as president of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (2016-17) and also of the POD Network (2010-2011), the U.S. professional society for educational developers. He is co-editor of the International Journal for Academic Development and a fellow of the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Undergraduate Education. He has authored and co-authored several books including Transforming Students, Engaging Students as Partners in Learning and Teaching: A Guide for Faculty, Transformative Conversations: A Guide to Mentoring Communities in Higher Education, and The Undergraduate Experience: Focusing Institutions on What Matters Most.
The schedule will be as follows:
Morning session (10:30 am to 12:00 noon) – The Undergraduate Experience: What Matters Most for Student Success? (Part One)
Lunch & Poster Presentations (12:00 noon to 1:00 pm) – Recipients of the 2017 Lawrence Schovanec Teaching Development Scholarship will present posters on the conferences they attended
Afternoon session (1:00 to 2:30 pm) - The Undergraduate Experience: What Matters Most for Student Success? (Part Two)
