Are you first-gen/low-income income that wants to go to grad school?

The Division of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion is happy to announce the The McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program! This program  is designed to provide students that are underrepresented in graduate programs with mentoring and research experience during their undergraduate careers.

We are recruiting first-generation & low-income students that will be classified as juniors for fall 2018 with an opportunity to begin a graduate school preparation program and participate in an 8-week paid internship in summer 2019. The internship will be research-based and designed by students with the help of their TTU faculty mentor. Program benefits include: mentorship, engaging in scholarly activities, advanced leadership training, GRE preparation, assistance with the graduate school application and funding process, and academic, career and personal counseling.    

 

To be eligible to apply for the McNair Scholars Program, students must be: 

  • U.S. Citizens or Permanent Legal Residents of the U.S.
  • First-Generation OR Low-Income OR Members of an Underrepresented Group in Graduate Education (African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Hispanic/Latino, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander)
  • In Good Academic Standing (2.5+ GPA desired)
  • Interested in STEM-Related Research is Preferred. However, ALL majors can apply.
  • Desiring to Pursue Graduate Studies, especially at the Ph.D. Level 

    The application process is simple! Application materials include a 500-word essay (describing background, research interests, graduate education aspirations, and career goals), and contact information for 2-3 academic/professional references. Resumes will be collected if students are chosen for interviews.
