Summer graduate courses at the Museum
Looking for a fun and enlightening graduate course this summer? The Heritage and Museum Sciences Program is offering three classroom courses, all held at the Museum of Texas Tech University. Registration for these is open to any graduate student in good standing. 

May Intersession (May 10-26): HMGT 5339-001, CRM 72896  Theory and Practice of Provenance Research (with Col. Andrew Scott DeJesse). This class looks at issues of cultural heritage, ownership, repatriation, and the modern Monuments Men and Women. Due diligence and ethical practices in the management of public and private collections, as well as the buying and selling of objects on the global market, are discussed. This will be held every day except Mondays, from 9:00-4:30 (with a lunch break). 

Summer I May 30-July 1): 
MUSM 5321-101, CRN 38664  Museology (with Dr. Cameron Saffell). An overview to the field of museum science, highlighting international museological theory and the historical and contemporary role of museums in our society. Class meets Tuesday through Friday, 1:30-4:30. 

HMGT 5333-001, CRN 72901  Heritage Tourism (with Dr. Hyojung Cho). Study of the economic uses of heritage resources. Examination of the development process, the role of diverse stakeholders, and impacts on host communities by heritage tourism. Class meets Tuesday through Friday, 9:00-12:00.
