The Texas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (TEX-ABOTA) kindly requests your participation as a Mock Juror. The Competition is the only known current advocacy simulation focusing on the under-taught skills of jury selection. All 10 law schools in Texas will participate and students will have an opportunity to practice their skills. Your participation is important to the future lawyers of Texas, their law schools, and the clients that will need their representation.
In order to have a successful competition, we need hundreds of volunteers to participate as jurors to allow law students the opportunity to get real-life experience and ensure the right of every citizen to a jury of their peers.
Volunteer jurors will receive a $75 Visa gift card on-site for participating. Parking is free.
Each juror may participate in one round of the competition either in the morning or afternoon on Friday, September 19, Saturday, September 20 or Sunday, September 21.
Please do not sign up for multiple rounds. Your participation is strictly on a voluntary basis. Lubbock County will not supply a Certificate of Attendance or give jury duty credit.
By participating, you consent to be recorded, which may be used for educational purposes. Feel free to share with family and friends! (18 y/o+) Since we are looking for a diverse group of participants, students who bring family members (parents, grandparents, etc.) will receive an additional $10.
Location: Lubbock County Courthouse, 904 Broadway St., 5th Floor, Lubbock, TX 79401.
