All over the place a person can read about body image. But what is it? With so many people using the term casually, the term itself can sometimes lose its meaning. Body image is a broad concept that includes how our own perceptions of our bodies impact many different areas including overall self-concept, depression, and anxiety. This group will learn about and enhance body image in a safe group environment. BodyTalk will be useful to women that are having difficulty with low self-esteem, problems in relationships, and who are either developing or have symptoms of an eating disorder. By enhancing one’s body image it is hoped that members will improve significantly in these areas of their life. This group hopes to learn and discuss the impact body image has on well-being. From group discussion, members will foster more positive feelings towards their bodies.
