The SOAR Learning Center is currently seeking Graduate students for the Spring 2012 to assist with the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program. This position entails assisting the Assistant Director in supervising SI related areas, and acting as Learning Center support staff as needed. This position pays $10.00 per hour plus tuition fee waiver.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions. SI sessions are regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. Students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together.
The SI Supervisor will assist with:
- observation of SI sessions
- supervision of employee meetings
- data entry
The preferred candidate will be:
- Pursuing a graduate degree in Education, HDFS, Sociology, Psychology, or any related field (preference not a requirement).
- excellent communication skills
- excellent work ethic
- working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- availability to work approximately 15 ~ 20 hours per week
