Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch, the first Asian American to hold the rank of an ambassador in U.S. history and the founding president of the U.S.-China Education Trust, will explore the meanings and implications of the rise of China. Why does China hold more than a trillion dollar U.S. debt? What are the stakes for the U.S. pivots back to Asia? How does the U.S. maintain its interest and balance power in Asia Pacific?

Born in China and coming to the U.S. at age nine, Ambassador Bloch holds a B.A. in Communications and Public Policy from University of California at Berkeley, a M.A. in Government and East Asian Studies from Harvard University, and an honorary Ph. D of Humane Letters from Northeastern University.
