Feminist Activist Award - Nominations DUE Today!

The Women’s Studies Program is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the Feminist Activist Award to be given to an outstanding Texas Tech University undergraduate or graduate student who has shown leadership through advocacy for women and gender issues on campus.

The award is being given to honor the contributions of Ms. Ruth Lauer to the Women’s Studies Program. She is a role model to many women in our community through her dedication and support of women, and especially to the Women’s Studies program. We want to thank her for years of support by giving this award in her name.

  • We are asking people in the TTU community to nominate a student who has shown leadership and a commitment to and work on behalf of women or gender on campus or in the community.
  • Self-nominations are encouraged and welcomed!

Criteria

  • Ask the student to write a one page essay describing their activities on behalf of women and gender and their commitment to future efforts for change.
  • Include a letter of support from someone who is familiar with the student’s work on gender equity, which could be a letter from the nominator.
  • Download the application form from the Women’s Studies web site (Application Form Link). Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of women’s studies affiliated faculty and/or instructors.

Deadline

  • Send in nomination no later than April 10, 2014
