Tech Renewable Energy Society Welcomes Dr. Swift
Dr. Andrew Swift will speak at the April 21st meeting of TRES. Dr. Swift, Director of Wind Science and Engineering (WISE) at Tech, is both our local expert and a nationally recognized consultant. Everyone is invited to learn about the use of wind power to solve energy and water problems that face residents of the South Plains.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM in the Canyon Room of the College of Human Sciences. The presentation will begin at 7:00 PM in Room 169 (next to the Canyon Room). Human Sciences Building is located at Akron Street and 15th and directly east of the Administration Building.

This presentation is sponsored by the Tech Renewable Energy Society, which is dedicated to the understanding and use of renewable sources of energy, (solar, wind and geothermal), especially for Texas Tech and the Lubbock area.
Dr. Andrew Swift is presently Director of the Wind Science and Engineering Research Center at Texas Tech University. His previous employment included more than 20 years as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at U.T. El Paso, the last seven of which were spent as Dean of the College of Engineering. He completed his engineering graduate work obtaining a Doctor of Science degree at Washington University in St. Louis where he began conducting research in wind turbine engineering with a focus on the dynamics and aerodynamics of wind turbine rotors. Dr. Swift has worked in wind energy research for over 25 years, has over one hundred published articles and book chapters in the area of wind turbine engineering and renewable energy, and in 1995, he received the American Wind Energy Society Academic Award for continuing contributions to wind energy technology as a teacher, researcher, and author.
