TTU Commemoration of Large Hadron Collider First Circulating Beam
TTU Celebrates First Planned Circulation of LHC Proton Beam! Please come join us for a special 2-hour event at Texas Tech University in Science Lecture Room 7 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday evening, September 9 2008 to commemorate the impending first circulation of a complete beam in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the CERN laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland.

The event will begin with an open house at 7:00 pm, followed by a public lecture at 8:00 pm, along with some remarks by invited TTU officials on TTU participation in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the LHC. The open house will consist of in-person demonstrations and displays by the High Energy Physics group using computers and displays specially set up for this purpose. Light refreshments and handouts will be available. The evening presentation will conclude with showing of a 20-minute movie about the LHC and CMS experiment.
