The STEP (STEM, Teaching, Engagement and Pedagogy) LA program was started to "shrink" the lecture hall and give all students the opportunity to interact with course material and ask questions. LAs are students who have previously taken the course and want to help other students. It is a paid position that receives weekly pedagogy training to ensure that every LA has the preparation needed to be affective communicators.
