TechAnnounce Posting Policy

TechAnnounce is an official email announcement/communication method for the Texas Tech University (TTU) community. Congruent with University Acceptable Use Guidelines, the purpose of TechAnnounce is to facilitate the communication of University business and events.

  • The use of this list may not violate TTU Operating Policies, or State/Federal laws.
  • All messages must be posted at https://techannounce.ttu.edu (eRaider authentication required). Any event or announcement related to Texas Tech University can be submitted for approval, with exception to announcements conflicting with the policies listed below.
  • TechAnnounce is for Texas Tech University use only. All announcements must be submitted by a Texas Tech University employee or current student representing a formal university organization, such as a division, department, school, or registered student organization, which must be identified in the announcement.
  • Acceptable TechAnnounce postings must comply with all Texas Tech University Operating Policies and Procedures. Event announcements should describe factual information such as a brief description of the event, location, date, time, and sponsor. Subject lines must include only factual and descriptive information about the event.
  • The use of any Texas Tech University resources, including TechAnnounce, to engage in political activities is a violation of both the University Ethics Policy and State Law. TechAnnounce, as a University resource, may not be used for political announcements or fundraising.
  • Announcements that promote joint fund-raisers with private entities or businesses and TTU entities are not permitted unless the fund-raiser contributes directly to the university’s State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) efforts.
  • Regardless of an event location, an official university organization must be the sole generator and sole recipient of the monetary and/or non-monetary benefit generated by a fund-raiser. Fund-raiser announcements will be distributed to the appropriate list.
  • The TechAnnounce coordinator will obtain approval from Property Inventory on any announcements related to the sale or transfer of university property before distribution. All computer equipment for sale or transfer must be posted to Raider PC Mart instead of TechAnnounce.
  • Lost-and-found announcements are not permitted and should be pursued with Texas Tech Police Department.
  • Prior to submitting an announcement seeking participants for experiments, the submitting department must obtain approval from the Protection of Human Subjects Committee, as part of the Institutional Review Board.
  • Announcements on the same topic may only be distributed once per week per list unless an update is necessary.
  • The maximum amount of text in a message is limited to 4000 characters. The subject field is limited to 80 characters.
  • Each submission will reflect the email address of the originator of the message; users will be directed to the originator for additional information.
  • TTUHSC announcements need to be posted at https://announcements.ttuhsc.edu.
  • Direct all questions and request for assistance to IT Help Central at 806-742-4357 (HELP).
