The Rawls Course Named Second Best In Texas By Golfweek
The Rawls Course, home of the Texas Tech men's and women's golf programs, has been named the second best course that you can play in the state of Texas by Golfweek Magazine.

The Rawls Course, owned by Texas Tech University and managed by Troon Golf, moved up four spots from last year's rankings and trails only Pine Dunes Resort and Golf Club in Frankston.

"It is such a great honor to be recognized as the No. 2 golf course you can play out of around 1000 courses in Texas," said Greg Winter, General Manager. "Being part of the Troon Golf team that is involved with the Rawls course which is an enjoyable experience for all levels of golfers is truly special. We look forward to another great year at The Rawls Course with the opening of our clubhouse sometime late summer."

Developed by architect Tom Doak, The Rawls Course is currently midway through a $3.7 million addition that will incorporate a state-of-the-art clubhouse and team facility. This new addition will give both Texas Tech golf programs one of the premier golf facilities in the nation.

The course is named after Texas Tech alum Jerry S. Rawls, who generously donated the majority of the funding needed to make the facility one of the top courses in the nation. Rawls is also the namesake for Texas Tech's Rawls College of Business.

Coming in at No. 1 on the list was Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club in Frankston followed by The Rawls Course, Barton Creek (Fazio Canyons) in Austin, Butterfield Trail in El Paso and Old American Golf Club in The Colony. Last fall, the course was named the third best campus course in the nation by Golfweek Magazine.
