Free CUR webinar: Assessment Strategies for Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences

012:00 PM - 01:00 PM CST

TLPDC, room 153

Do you teach a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE), are you thinking of implementing CUREs on your campus, or are you assessing the impact of multiple CUREs? This webinar will provide an overview of strategies to assess a specific course along with departmental and campus level assessment strategies. Topics will include models for assessing student outcomes including development of content knowledge, academic and professional skills, and academic achievement. We will also review assessment techniques for campus goals such as retention in STEM, persistence in college, and graduation rates. Assessment strategies will include study designs that assess the quality and depth of educational experience along with quasi-experimental strategies that follow criteria for the Institute of Education Sciences’ What Works Clearinghouse.

You may sign up to join us for the webinar on the TLPDC event page, http://events.tlpd.ttu.edu/View/Member/ShowAllEvents.aspx.

Immediately following the webcast, we will spend about 30 minutes in conversation about undergraduate research at Texas Tech University. Texas Tech has established a solid foundation for undergraduate research, and we believe we are positioned well for the next level of growth. It is our hope to increase the use of the many benefits that come with TTU’s enhanced institutional membership with CUR as well as increase communication flow among our campus undergraduate research partners in the next year and beyond.

Can’t join us in person? You may register for this free webinar on the CUR webinar registration page and watch the webcast later at your leisure. This webinar will be recorded and shared with all registrants.

Not yet a CUR member? Don’t miss out on key information and resources. Join today for free at https://www.cur.org/membership/become_a_member/  Once there, you will simply click individual membership and complete the form. The system will recognize you as a member of TTU and zero out the payment as you proceed through the process.

Please let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to talking with you on June 13.
