Course description: Examines the historical development of the Mexican American and broader Latina/o community within the context of United States history and culture in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Why study Mexican American and Latina/o Studies?

The Mexican American and Latina/o Studies minor introduces students to the significant and rich personal, historical, economic, culture, and religious experiences of Mexican Americans and Latina/os in the U.S. The MALS program will help students develop a more robust of understanding of how such a social issues, politics, and other environmental realities shape the circumstances of Mexican Americans and Latina/os in the United States.

What career can I have with a Mexican American and Latina/o Studies minor?

The Mexican American and Latina/o Studies minor is intended to offer students preparing for careers in public sector, business administration, marketing, public relations, education, politics, government and minority affairs with the skills, background with the skills, background and formal training to work effectively with Mexican American and Latina/o communities. Additionally, the Mexican American and Latina/o Studies minor with the help prepare undergraduates to consider graduate work and careers that will bring them into substantial contact with the Mexican American and Latina/o community, and whereby an advanced understanding of these groups would be an appreciable
