In Pandemic Mama, audiences will experience a one-of-a-kind, immersive performance exploring the stories of motherhood during the COVID-19 pandemic. Featuring original dance, theatre, music, and film from TTU faculty and students and Flatlands Dance Theatre, Pandemic Mama unpacks the complex, multifaceted experiences of mothers grappling with the multitude of expectations, fear, disappointments, unexpected joys, and dynamically changed (and changing) lives during this pandemic era. Using interview data from women across the South Plains, the creative team presents a live show featuring a screening of an original devised film and also including segments of live dance, theatre, and music. We then invite audiences to participate in several fun post-show immersive experiences. All mothers in the audience can expect a special treat following the show. Please join us for this special event on Mother’s Day weekend honoring and revealing just how critical and connecting our mothers and the act of mothering are during this time of pandemic.
