Hear Creative Writing Alumni Nicholas Pierce and Nancy Wayson Dinan Read!
The Creative Writing Program is thrilled to bring in two alumni to read in two consecutive weeks for this semester's Creative Writing Reading Series! Please find the details for both readings below and consider attending both events. The readings are free and open to the public!
Nick Pierce: Thursday, April 28th in ENGL/PHIL 106 at 7:30 p.m.
Nicholas Pierce was born in Bakersfield, CA. He graduated from Texas Tech University and received an MFA in Poetry from the University of Florida. During his MFA, he taught creative writing and worked on the school's literary journal, Subtropics. His own poems have appeared in The Adroit Journal, Birmingham Poetry Review, The Hopkins Review, and Smartish Pace, among other places. A resident of Salt Lake City, he's now working on a PhD in Poetry at the University of Utah. In Transit is his first book.
Nancy Wayson Dinan: Thursday, May 5th in ENGL/PHIL 106 at 7:30 p.m.
Nancy Wayson Dinan earned her B.B.A.: Management Information Systems in 2001 from the University of Texas at Austin and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing in 2013 from The Ohio State University. In May 2020, Dr. Dinan earned her Ph.D. in English with a creative dissertation from Texas Tech University. Dr. Dinan is the former managing editor for the Iron Horse Literary Review, and her work has appeared in the Paris Review Daily, Arts & Letters, Texas Observer, the Cincinnati Review, and others. She is the author of the novel Things You Would Know if You Grew up around Here. (A Zoom link for this reading will be forthcoming.)
