Course Description:
Sociological and global analysis of racial and ethnic groups. Analysis of diversity and multiculturalism from a global perspective. Fulfills multicultural requirement. From Instructor: Course Description: This course examines the status of racial, ethnic, and gender inequality from historical, economic, and political perspectives. It is designed to expand knowledge of theory, 1 research, and current events in regard to the relations of race, ethnicity, gender, and class in the United States and in other parts of the world. It is the intent of this course to introduce key topics, stimulate individual thought, and enhance the understanding of group interactions. There will be a specific focus on the relationships between race and ethnic relations with educational outcomes, residential segregation, economic inequality, health inequality, and social development. At the end of the term students should be able to describe the historical roots of ethnic conflict and racism and discuss the effects of racism on present-day inequality with a global perspective.
