This new Sociology course, SOC 3300-001: Special Topics in Sociology - Mental Health and Society, explores how our mental health is shaped by various social conditions. We will discuss a range of topics, including the social determinants of stress and mental health (e.g., social class, gender, race/ethnicity, immigration, etc.), the labeling and stigma of mental illness, and social inequalities in mental health and well-being.
